Sales Representative - Vermont/New England

Sales Representative - Vermont/New England
Location: Vermont-based; field role covering Vermont with expansion across New England
Why Runamok:
Runamok exists to bring a little more joy to everyday life. We're not really in the maple syrup business, we're in the business of creating reasons to celebrate ordinary moments. Our inventive, beautifully crafted syrups are poured, drizzled, and stirred in thousands of stores and hospitality locations across the country and around the world. We craft with care, keep things light, and look out for each other. We take the work seriously without taking ourselves too seriously. If you like your work best when you're out in the world talking to people who love food, keep reading.
The Opportunity:
Vermont is our home turf, we intend to win it and want someone hungry to lead the charge. As our Vermont / New England Sales Representative, you'll start by owning the Vermont market—growing Runamok's business with a primary focus on foodservice (restaurants, cafés, hotels, and resorts) plus the specialty retailers that make Vermont's food scene what it is (gift shops, mom & pop grocery stores and beyond).
Why take this job? Because it's yours to build. Open territory, a respected brand, and the freedom to sell the whole line your way. Vermont and New England are full of restaurants, resorts, groceries, and shops that don't carry Runamok yet. Go win Vermont and expand your territory, which will also give you more opportunity.
This is a true field role: roughly three-quarters of your week is on the road meeting chefs, buyers, operators, and distributor reps. It's built for a self-starter who'd rather be doing a tasting at a ski lodge than sitting in a cubicle, and who gets energy from turning a first conversation into a long-term account.
Compensation:
- Full-time, field-based (approximately 80% travel), Vermont-based with a growing regional footprint.
- Competitive pay (commensurate with experience); medical/dental/vision benefits, IRA matching contributions, flexible time-off, product discounts, and flexible scheduling.
-
$55,000 – $70,000 base plus incentive, commensurate with experience
What you'll do:
-
Own and grow Vermont first—foodservice-led, with specialty retail as a strong second—then expand into the wider New England market as the territory develops.
-
Identify and win new operator accounts: restaurants, cafés, hotels, inns, beverage programs, gift shops, and mom & pop grocery.
-
Build relationships with regional foodservice distributors and their sales teams—ride-alongs, trainings, and joint calls.
-
Grow existing accounts by expanding product mix and placement, and be the face of Runamok for your accounts: chefs, operators, buyers, and distributor reps.
-
Provide product education, menu inspiration, and merchandising support, and represent Runamok at trade shows, tastings, food events, and community activations across the region.
-
Keep a healthy pipeline, a consistent in-market presence, and accurate notes, metrics, and reporting in the CRM as your footprint grows.
-
Feed market intel back to the team: competitive moves, customer trends, and product feedback.
-
Other responsibilities as assigned.
What You'll Bring:
-
2-3 years in sales, foodservice, hospitality, and/or distribution, though drive and relationships matter more than years on a résumé. Foodservice experience preferred.
-
A real feel for the Vermont food & retail scene and the hunger to learn the rest of New England. Experience selling with or through distributors like Black River Produce, Sysco, or PFG is a strong plus.
-
The self motivation to run your own territory and the confidence to be measured by the numbers. Your Vermont, and over time in New England, sales results are the scoreboard.
-
Comfort using AI tools to research prospects, prep for calls, and stay organized across a growing territory, making your job easier.
-
A genuine love of premium food, excellent communicator and willingness to travel throughout the region, and a valid driver's license.
